Year 6 RSHE Lesson – Families and the People Who Care for Us

This Year 6 RSHE lesson on Families and the People Who Care for Us supports statutory Relationships Education by helping pupils explore how families provide love, safety, stability and guidance, especially as children prepare for secondary school. Pupils learn that families can take many forms, including parents, carers, extended family, foster families and same-sex parents, and that what matters most is care and support.

The lesson explores how family life can change through separation, moving home or caring responsibilities, and supports pupils in recognising when home does not feel safe. Strong safeguarding messages reinforce who to talk to in school, at home or via Childline when worries persist.
