Year 5 RSHE Lesson – Families and People Who Care for Us

This Year 5 RSHE lesson on Families and People Who Care for Us supports statutory Relationships Education by helping pupils explore how families provide love, safety and guidance, even when they look different from one another. Children learn about diverse family structures, including single-parent families, same-sex parents, adoptive families and carers, promoting respect and inclusion.

The lesson also explores how families can change through separation, moving home or caring for relatives, and supports pupils in recognising when home does not feel safe. Clear safeguarding messages encourage children to speak to trusted adults or contact Childline if they are worried about themselves or others.
