Year 4 RSHE Lesson – Families and People Who Care for Us

This Year 4 RSHE lesson on Families and People Who Care for Us supports statutory Relationships Education by helping pupils understand that families come in many forms and that what matters most is love, care and safety. Children explore different family structures, including single-parent families, same-sex parents, foster care and extended families, promoting inclusion and respect.

The lesson also explores changes in family life such as separation, new babies and moving home, and helps pupils recognise when something at home does not feel right. Clear safeguarding messages encourage pupils to speak to trusted adults or Childline if they are worried about themselves or others.
