Year 1 RSHE Lesson - Families and People Who Care for Me (Statutory Relationships Education)

This Year 1 RSHE lesson on Families and People Who Care for Me supports statutory Relationships Education and helps children understand that families can look different but are all built on love, care and kindness. Pupils explore a wide range of family structures, including single-parent families, grandparents, foster families, and families with two mums or two dads, promoting inclusion and respect from an early age.

Through child-friendly discussions and visual prompts, children learn about the ways families keep them safe, help them grow, and make them feel happy. The lesson introduces the idea of trusted adults and reinforces that children should feel safe at home and know who to talk to if they are worried.
