Year 4 RSHE Lesson – Health Protection and Prevention (Staying Healthy)

This Year 4 RSHE Health Protection and Prevention lesson supports statutory Health Education by teaching pupils how everyday choices help protect their health. Children learn about hygiene routines, dental care, sleep, sun safety, healthy eating and hydration, and how these habits support growth and wellbeing.

The lesson explores how germs spread and how handwashing, cough etiquette and vaccinations help prevent illness. Pupils learn to recognise early warning signs such as tiredness, rashes and ongoing pain, and understand when to tell trusted adults or seek medical help.

Strong safeguarding links reinforce health-seeking behaviour and early intervention.
