Year 1 RSHE Lesson - Health Protection and Prevention (Statutory Relationships Education)

This Year 1 RSHE Health Protection and Prevention lesson supports statutory Health Education by teaching children simple daily habits that help keep their bodies healthy and safe. Pupils learn about handwashing, tooth brushing, drinking water, getting enough sleep, staying active and protecting themselves in the sun.

The lesson introduces basic hygiene and germ prevention, including how germs spread and why washing hands for at least 20 seconds is important. Children also learn about vaccinations in a reassuring, age-appropriate way and understand that doctors and nurses help protect us from illness.

Pupils are taught to recognise signs of feeling unwell and are encouraged to tell trusted adults if they notice symptoms, supporting safeguarding and early help awareness.
