Year 2 RSHE Lesson – Families and People Who Care for Me

This Year 2 RSHE lesson on Families and People Who Care for Me supports statutory Relationships Education by helping children understand the important role families play in providing love, safety and support. Pupils explore how families can change over time, including welcoming new babies, step-families, foster care and adoption, promoting inclusion and respect for different family structures.

Children learn that families may have different beliefs and traditions and that all caring relationships deserve respect. The lesson also introduces marriage and civil partnerships in an age-appropriate way and reinforces that children should always feel safe at home and know who to talk to if something feels wrong.
