Year 1 RSHE Lesson - Healthy Eating (Statutory Relationships Education)

This Year 1 RSHE healthy eating lesson supports statutory Health Education by teaching children how food helps them grow, stay strong and have energy to learn and play. Pupils explore different food groups, including protein, carbohydrates, fruit and vegetables, and healthy drinks such as water and milk.

The lesson helps children understand hunger and fullness, making healthy snack choices, and why too much sugar can affect teeth and tummies. Pupils also take part in designing a balanced lunch, reinforcing practical nutrition knowledge in an age-appropriate way.

Safeguarding is supported through trusted adult signposting if children are worried about their health or eating habits.
