Year 3 RSHE Lesson – Families and People Who Care for Me

This Year 3 RSHE lesson on Families and People Who Care for Me supports statutory Relationships Education by helping pupils understand the different ways families can be structured and how families provide love, care, safety and support. Children explore family diversity, including step-families, single-parent families, carers and extended families, promoting inclusion and respect.

The lesson also explores how families can change over time, such as new babies, separation or moving house, and encourages children to talk about their feelings when changes feel difficult. Safeguarding is embedded, with clear guidance on who to talk to if home does not feel safe, including trusted adults and Childline.
