Year 1 RSHE Lesson - Physical Health and Fitness (Statutory Relationships Education)

This Year 1 RSHE physical health and fitness lesson teaches children why moving their bodies is important for keeping their heart, muscles and brain healthy. Pupils explore a wide range of physical activities, including dancing, team sports, outdoor play, cycling, stretching and swimming.

The lesson explains how regular physical activity supports energy levels, sleep and emotional wellbeing, and why sitting for long periods can make our bodies feel tired and unhealthy. It also introduces simple, age-appropriate understanding of healthy weight and the role of activity in staying strong.

Children are encouraged to talk to trusted adults if they feel unwell or worried about their health, reinforcing safeguarding and health awareness.
