Year 1 RSHE Lesson - Personal Safety (Statutory Relationships Education)

This Year 1 Personal Safety RSHE lesson helps children understand why keeping safe is important and how they can make sensible, age appropriate choices to protect themselves. Designed for KS1 pupils, the lesson introduces everyday hazards in a calm, structured and reassuring way while reinforcing clear safeguarding boundaries.

• Look both ways
  
• Use a zebra crossing where possible
  
• Hold hands with a trusted adult

Railway Safety

• Trains move very fast and cannot stop quickly
  
• Never play near railway tracks
  
• Only cross at proper level crossings
  
• Stay with an adult near railway lines

Water Safety

• Water can be deeper than it looks
  
• Never go near water without a grown up
  
• Listen carefully to adults near water
  
• Do not run near pools
  
• Use safety equipment such as armbands if needed

Children are supported to identify trusted adults in school and at home, including:
